Bit of a blabber about my favourite books.

Bit of a blabber about my favourite books.

Carissa Broadbent and Danielle Jensen Edition

I wish I had more time to post about books! Whilst I do have a very small bookstagram account, I dont post half as much as I should. I thought for that reason, I would use this space for anyone who is interested in some book recommendations.

I must admit, how much I enjoy a book entirely depends on the things going on in my life around that time. On the flip side, there are some books that have become my whole personality, and most recently that has been pretty much anything written by Carissa Broadbent.

In January 2025, Daughter of No Worlds was the book club pick. When I say I became obsessed. There is something about the way Carissa writes that I (a dyslexic af 31 YO) could absorb. I finished the trilogy quicker than I’ve ever read that many pages and can hand on heart say that I preferred it to Throne of Glass. I dont say this lightly as Throne of Glass was my hill to die on before the War of Lost Hearts.

I then consumed everything else that Carissa has written (currently finishing the novellas) and can conclude that she is up there with one of my favourite authors. I think she frames really complicated life situations in a way that allows you to look in from an outsiders perspective. She handles complicated relationships and politics masterfully, in a way that’s easy to digest.

Another author who masters this to perfection is Danielle Jensen. The Bridge Kingdom series made me realise that it isn’t the magical systems that I need to be entrapped. It wasnt until book 3 that i noticed there wasn’t any.

I listened to these because they were free on Audible, and suddenly my life didnt exist anymore and the only thing of importance was protecting the bridge. These books are broken into sets of duologies. They are each based around different sets of characters and kingdoms, and each book was better than the one before.
